Character Insight from Spiritual Astrology...Billie Eilish
The 3rd Decanate of Sagittarius (Sagittarius-Leo) — It is pictured in the sky as the Constellation, Sagitta. Its rulership spans from December 12 to December 22.
Keyword: ILLUMINATION
Spiritual Text: Concentration is the Arrow that Pierces the Illusions of Matter and Makes Possible High Accomplishment.
The decanates of Sagittarius guide us toward the Higher Mind, showing different facets of spiritual awareness. According to C.C. Zain, the first decanate, Lyra (DEVOTION), depicts how the higher mind resonates with inspiration from elevated realms. The second decanate, Aquila, reflects the soul’s power to transcend physical boundaries and EXPLORE inner worlds. The third, Sagitta, represents ILLUMINATION.
“As shafts of light penetrate the darkness, so do the higher powers of the soul pierce the clouds of illusion.”
How does this decanate apply to Eilish’s life?
Sagitta, the decanate of Billie Eilish’s Sun placement, symbolizes the speed of thought, its unswerving aim, and its ability to strike the mark. Anyone viewing her lyrics will recognize the simplicity and economy of words (Mercury in Capricorn) that succeed in delivering the sharp message she has in her sight.
In her young life she has become a teacher and emotional explorer to many of her generation and beyond. She is fearless about jumping into, wrestling with, and then illuminating the dark spaces of her life. With Mars in Pisces in the 12th house and the ruler of her ASC or personality, it is not surprising that her personal journey is touched by dark thoughts of self-undoing, harm, and feelings of imprisonment. But, on the other side of that darkness, she is the light of Sagitta—ILLUMINATION.
The Sun represents the energy that gives each soul its Individuality or reason for being. Clearly, with her Sun conjunct Venus in the 9th house, in conjunction with her MC, and Mercury, she has the powerful urge to artistically reach out and communicate through not only words but fashion as well. The level of success she has achieved at an early age is an unmistakable marker of how successful she is at touching others who may be grappling with similar existential questions. That this desire to reach out to others is not always healthy for her is evident in the Sun Square ASC. In a recent Rolling Stone magazine article, she describes the very painful process of basically waterboarding herself for 6 hours to create the album cover for “Hit Me Hard and Soft.” She describes a disoriented and uncomfortable time of recovery.
For people of whatever age, she provides a template for authentically and realistically navigating the existential questions we all ultimately face. It will be fascinating to watch how she evolves and matures as an artist.

Sagittarius: The 9th Sign of the Zodiac
November 22 through December 22
I See
True Religion is the Discernment of the Divine Plan and Conscious Cooperation in its Fulfillment.
Aiming to See Clearly...
Sagittarius, the Archer in the sky, stands ready with a drawn bow, aiming straight at the Scorpion’s heart to protect humanity from self-centeredness and ignorance. This archer represents the sign of the Higher Mind and symbolizes values like religion, teaching, long journeys, publishing, and all public expressions of belief and opinion. The spiritual message is that wide dissemination of information is advantageous.
By integrating scientific understanding with its natural inner vision, the Higher Mind recognizes that the universe is not a lifeless machine but a living organism. In this view, every entity within the universe acts as a “cell” with a unique function, contributing to the greater whole. Additionally, it perceives that the cosmos is evolving purposefully, continuously developing into a more complex structure with a clear, though ever-expanding, goal, reflecting the presence of a Divine Plan.
The Higher Mind seeks to understand the Divine Plan in as much detail as possible. Then, it strives to discern where it can contribute most effectively as a positive force within this Plan. By examining its own abilities and potential, it identifies how these can best support the progress of the universe. Once it has determined the most meaningful path of service, it commits itself to that purpose.
For Sagittarians, there’s a strong pull or urge to comprehend the world by balancing mental exploration with fresh air and physical activity. Without this balance, their vitality can be quickly depleted, leaving them prone to intense, sometimes negative thought cycles. Sagittarians thrive when they find work so captivating it feels like play—a game where success itself becomes the challenge.

In this classic series, Elbert Benjamine explains the astrological significance of the sign Sagittarius and its relationship to Arcanum VII, The Conqueror tarot card...to be a Conqueror is to demonstrate mastery over all three worlds: physical, mental and spiritual.
The Conqueror card expresses:
In the spiritual world—the rule of spirit over matter.
In the mental world—wisdom and influence.
In the physical world—harnessing the elements and forces of nature to serve human intelligence and will.
ADMONITION paraphrased from The Sacred Tarot:
Remember, then, child of Earth, that true power in life belongs to those who have mastery over their spirit—the light that reveals life’s mysteries. If the Conqueror appears in your horoscope, it indicates that by overcoming obstacles, you’ll defeat your challenges, and your goals will come to fruition. Approach the future boldly, confident in your right to succeed.

Why Astrology and the Tarot are so important to understanding Traditional Knowledge
The word Kabala signifies traditional knowledge. It thus refers to the Oral Law, as handed down from antiquity; and embraces the occult traditions of all lands and all peoples. Often it is used merely as referring to the esoteric doctrines of the Jews; but in its broader sense it includes also the secret doctrine of other races. This secret doctrine, common to many lands, was jealously guarded from the profane, and was never permitted to pass into writing except in such ambiguous terms as to baffle the uninitiated as to its true purport. In this sense the sacred books of the world, including the Avesta, the Vedas and the Bible are largely kabalistical; for they set forth traditions that are capable of an inner, or esoteric, interpretation. In fact, there are usually several interpretations possible, each more inner version revealing a deeper truth to those who have advanced along the path far enough to comprehend it.
And this seems the proper place to point out that the unwritten kabala, like the written kabala, is set forth in symbolical language, with purposeful blinds and subterfuges to confuse the uninitiated; so that of the few who undoubtedly exist at the present day who have received it, most remain in as much ignorance of its true interpretation as the majority of students do after studying the more accessible written kabala. This unwritten kabala has been transmitted only through certain secret schools. Those receiving it well merit what is given to them. They are left to their own devices in the matter of interpretation. And because the real keys to its interpretation—astrology and the tarot—have been largely ignored, or distorted, they have floundered sadly in arriving at its meaning. Whether written or unwritten, the kabala is a philosophy correlated to esoteric astrology as exemplified by the tarot; and it can only be comprehended fully by those who perceive the true relation between astrological energies and their pictured tarot exemplification.
